These earrings are made with images of the Emperor and the Empress from a miniature deck of Tarot cards. Images are sealed with Diamond Glaze in brass frames, and embellished with gold and orange glitter. Accented with faceted Czech glass beads. Brass leverback earwires. Images measure 3/4-by-1-inch, earrings are a total of 2-1/2 inches long from top of leverback wires to bottom of frames (image enlarged to show detail). King and Queen faces are taken from reprinted images of an old Italian tarot deck, which is the origin of our modern playing cards. Faces are glued under a glass pebble. I can personally attest to the fact that such glued pebbles are difficult to remove (having tried to take apart previous items of similar construction), but they are not indestructible; keep away from water, cleaning chemicals, blunt force, etc. Accented with crimson Czech glass drops. Brass pistol charm and Chinese coin capture the spirit of FIREFLY fans everywhere! In fact, when I got my copy of the Firefly: The Official Companion: Volume Two I saw that the back cover features a pistol and coins just like these (but I was making the earrings before the book came out!). Earrings measure 1-3/8 inches long, not including brass leverback earwires (surgical steel french hooks available upon request for those with metal sensitivities). Image slightly enlarged to show detail. Handmade in my private studio. Symbols on coins may vary from those pictured. Giftboxed.

Most of my jewelry is one-of-a-kind, but this is one of the few items where I do make several of the same design. These are a tribute to my fellow Browncoats, and proceeds from the sale of these earrings go right back into the Can’t Stop the Serenity event I help sponsor and coordinate in Raleigh, NC, each June.

Inspired by the earrings Inara wore in the FIREFLY episode “Jaynestown” when she met Magistrate Higgins. Purple glass drops, balls are vintage filigree beads. See a screenshot of Inara with the earrings here. This pair I made measure 1-3/4 inches long, not including lever-back earwires. Handmade in my private studio. Giftboxed. The COMPANION NECKLACE was worn with the same costume. I will make more, probably not exactly like the ones shown here, but as close as possible to the original. Finding parts is hit-or-miss, so I can only make them when I’m able to find the right materials.
