These ceramic vials are great diffusers — perfume oils evaporate through the cork (corks may leak, please use caution when filling or wearing). They are also great for holding small treasures and fairy dust, or remove the cork and fill with small flowers. Hang in bathrooms, from rear-view mirrors, in windows, or anywhere! Vials are about 1-1/2 to 2 inches high, including cork (images slightly enlarged to show detail). Each vial hangs from white satin cord. One of each ceramic vial is available — the items you see in the pictures are the exact items you will receive. I didn’t make these, they are left over from the days when I used to sell retail items in addition to my own jewelry, but I did add the accent beads and cords.

I just finished this piece last night, using filigree charms, metal tubes, brass findings and chain, vintage pocket watch parts, and Czech glass. I particularly love the floral button, which was made using a spring case from a broken pocket watch (note the gear teeth around the edge of it), a padded fabric brad from a craft store, and a brass filigree backing (see enlarged picture below for detail). The brass bit in the center is also from a pocket watch, a piece of the internal workings, and even though it was not intended to be visible while the watch was in working order, it is still engraved with lovely scrollwork. It also has some patina, as it is from a vintage, broken watch. Necklace is a one-of-a-kind unique creation, handmade in the Monkeyshines studio.

Last year I began making pieces inspired by the steampunk mechanized brass aesthetic. Clockwork centerpiece is made from a broken pocket watch, suspended from an unusual machinery-looking style of chain linked with brass tubes. Necklace is adjustable, and measures a total of 17 inches long. Watch movement measures 34mm across and is engraved “Lake Shore 18 jewels” on the front, along with the numbers 998997, and some other decorative designs. Enlarged image, below, to show details. This necklace was created with watch parts, gears, brass and copper charms, on an unusual mechanical-looking chain. The centerpiece includes a part of the internal workings of a vintage pocket watch and reads “Standard Watch Co. Syracuse NY” along with the numbers “334425″ on the front. Enlarged image, below, to show details. One-of-a-kind unique creation, only one available, handmade in the Monkeyshines studio. Centerpiece measures 1-5/8 inches across, heart-shaped lock is 5/8-inch high. Total necklace length is 17-1/2 inches, but it is slightly adjustable and may be hooked down to 16-1/2 inches. I named the piece “Constance” for two reasons: Because the word constancy means steadfast and loyal devotion and faithfulness, which is represented by the heart-shaped lock on the decorative “mechanism”; and also because of the character Constance in the movie Monster House. My children and I love that movie — there is a heart-shaped lock and key in that film, also, and themes of love and devotion.

This Bioptic Delectationary Teslanator is a wrist widget created with vintage watch parts, gears, brass wire, and Czech glass, on a vintage leather watch band with brass rivets. These earrings are made with images of the Emperor and the Empress from a miniature deck of Tarot cards. Images are sealed with Diamond Glaze in brass frames, and embellished with gold and orange glitter. Accented with faceted Czech glass beads. On leverback earwires. Images measure 3/4-by-1-inch, earrings are a total of 2-1/2 inches long from top of leverback wires to bottom of frames (image enlarged to show detail). Brass pistol charm and Chinese coin capture the spirit of FIREFLY fans everywhere! In fact, when I got my copy of the Firefly: The Official Companion: Volume Two I saw that the back cover features a pistol and coins just like these (but I was making the earrings before the book came out!). Earrings measure 1-3/8 inches long, not including brass leverback earwires (surgical steel french hooks available upon request for those with metal sensitivities). Most of my jewelry is one-of-a-kind, but this is one of the few items where I do make several of the same design. In addition to finding the same style/color of bead that Kaylee is seen wearing on the cover of the FIREFLY DVD, the second Official Firefly Companion book, and in other FIREFLY promotional pictures, I have also found a type of cord that looks just like hers. It is tan buckskin (made in the USA). I am also making these necklaces adjustable, now, with an extension chain that allows them to be worn anywhere between 16 and 18 inches (as shown in the updated picture, above). This necklace is made when ordered, and I will keep making these for as long as I am able to obtain the beads and materials. Depending on my schedule, it might not be shipped for 4-6 weeks.
